Our Story
SMB Navigator was founded in 2014 by Scott Leach, but the story actually starts decades earlier, in the oil fields of West Texas. Scott's first job wasn't in an office. It was as a welder, working long hours in demanding conditions to pay his way through college. That experience taught him the value of hard work, resilience, and perseverance, lessons that would shape everything that came after.
Scott went on to earn a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and complete the Accelerated Mid-Management Program at Southern Methodist University. He built his corporate career at AmerisourceBergen, working his way up to Vice President and Regional Controller before being promoted to CFO of AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group, the multi-billion-dollar division of that Fortune 500 company.
Then he made a decision that surprised almost everyone who knew him. He left that Fortune 500 CFO role to purchase a small construction company. He grew it, ran it, and eventually sold it, gaining firsthand insight into the exact challenges and opportunities business owners face every day.
After selling the construction company, Scott put his CFO experience back to work, this time for smaller private companies, serving as CFO for QVL Pharmacy, Net.orange, and Source Direct. That work became the foundation for what would become fractional CFO services, helping small businesses access the same caliber of financial leadership that large companies take for granted. That experience became the catalyst for founding SMB Navigator.
Today, as a CPA, Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), and Certified Value Growth Advisor (CVGA), Scott brings a rare combination of financial expertise, operational leadership, and real entrepreneurial experience to every client engagement. He is particularly passionate about training, mentoring, and transferring knowledge, both to clients and to the team he has built around him.

SCOTT LEACH - CPA, CEPA, CVGA
Scott Leach is the Founder and President of SMB Navigator, where he helps business owners increase company value, improve profitability, and prepare for successful exits. A CPA, Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), and Certified Value Growth Advisor (CVGA), Scott combines decades of executive leadership experience with firsthand entrepreneurial success.
His career began as a welder in the oil fields of West Texas, where he worked his way through college before rising to executive leadership roles, including CFO positions within Fortune 500 and high-growth companies. One of the most pivotal decisions of his career was leaving corporate leadership to acquire and grow a small construction company, which he later sold successfully.
Since founding SMB Navigator in 2014, Scott has helped entrepreneurs build stronger, more valuable businesses through strategic coaching, exit planning, and leadership development. He is passionate about mentoring business owners, developing future advisors, and helping entrepreneurs create businesses that support both their financial goals and personal legacy.
SARAH LEACH - CLIENT RELATIONS MANAGER
Sarah Leach is the Client Relations Manager at SMB Navigator, where she serves as the primary point of contact for clients while managing many of the behind-the-scenes operations that keep the business running efficiently.
With more than 20 years of experience in accounting, payroll, administration, and customer service, Sarah brings a unique combination of organization, creativity, and dedication to her role. Before joining SMB Navigator, she held positions with several companies across a variety of industries and spent more than twelve years as a Payroll Specialist with Schwob Building Company.
Sarah manages client communications, social media, workshop marketing materials, bookkeeping, and executive scheduling, helping SMB Navigator deliver exceptional client experiences while supporting the company's business exit planning and business value growth services.
Outside of work, she enjoys water aerobics, diamond art, training her German Shepherd, riding motorcycles, and traveling with her husband.
ALEX LEACH - EXIT PLANNING ADVISOR
Alex Leach is an Exit Planning Advisor at SMB Navigator, where he helps business owners improve financial performance, strengthen cash flow, and increase company value through financial planning, forecasting, and strategic advisory services. A Certified Value Growth Advisor (CVGA) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Arkansas and an MBA, Alex combines financial expertise with a practical, results-oriented approach to business growth.
Before joining SMB Navigator, Alex worked as a Staff Accountant in the construction industry and served in the United States Marine Corps. His military experience shaped his leadership style and instilled the discipline, accountability, and problem-solving mindset that continue to guide his work today.
Alex has been instrumental in developing SMB Navigator’s FP&A and Value Growth service offerings, including financial forecasting models, KPI dashboards, operating plans, and strategic planning tools. He is passionate about helping business owners make informed decisions, improve profitability, and build stronger, more valuable businesses for the future.
IRISH SALVADOR - BOOKKEEPER
Irish Salvador is a Bookkeeper at SMB Navigator with more than 15 years of experience in accounting and finance. Her background includes roles as an Accountant, Financial Analyst, and Finance Manager, providing her with extensive expertise in financial reporting, accounting processes, and business operations.
A graduate of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Irish is passionate about helping clients maintain accurate, organized, and timely financial records. She works closely with business owners to ensure their bookkeeping is reliable and up to date, providing the financial clarity needed to make informed business decisions.
Irish is known for her attention to detail, consistency, and commitment to delivering high-quality work. She also brings valuable perspective from helping operate a small family retail business, giving her a firsthand understanding of the challenges business owners face.
Outside of work, Irish enjoys traveling, spending time with family, binge-watching her favorite shows, and caring for her five dogs.
JANINE MANANSALA- BOOKKEEPER
Janine Manansala is a Bookkeeper at SMB Navigator and an accomplished accounting and finance professional with over 10 years of experience in bookkeeping, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and accounting operations. She currently helps businesses maintain accurate financial records, streamline processes, and make informed financial decisions.
A graduate of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a B.S. in Accountancy and a QuickBooks Certification, Janine has held progressive roles at Scotts Philippines Inc., Gemalto Philippines, Conduent Inc., and Accenture Inc. Her career is marked by promotions into leadership positions and a proven ability to thrive during periods of transition.
Beyond her corporate career, Janine successfully managed side businesses for several years, demonstrating her entrepreneurial mindset. She is passionate about continuous learning, enjoys traveling and watching K-dramas, and values the lessons in patience and resilience she has gained through parenthood.
